VivaGate
|
With the Image Management Module, an unlimited quantity of images with different information may be organized. »VivaGate« can also be freely configured in this area: the customer can manage the exact information that suits his requirements and concepts.
»VivaGate» uses special interfaces to import large numbers of images and their information fully automatically. This is an important aspect especially in the filling of new databases but also in the daily routine work.
Define picture cropping in the Browser
The narrow dovetailing of »VivaGate« and the »VIVA Network Publishing« Server is also shown in the JAVA module for picture cropping. With this module the user can define the cropping as well as the rotation and mirroring of a picture in WYSIWYG display in the Browser. Through this communication between the user and the »Graphics Department« is reduced to a minimum, since in the past a new picture was created for every cropping that was required. To be certain that too much crop will not lead to printing problems later, the Design Template on the »VIVA Network Publishing« Server may include a definition as to how large the scaling factor of an image may be. If the scaling factor is exceeded or is too small, a corresponding warning appears in the PDF with the exact image name and the calculated scaling factor. The user can in this case decide for himself whether to select another cropping or to request a new picture with a higher resolution from the »Graphics Department«.
Connection to an OPI-Server
Customers who use an OPI-Server (e.g. Helios) can as an option with »VivaGate« import and manage low-res data for the layout and high-res data for the high resolution print document.
Planning-oriented Image Management
Thanks to the requirements of certain customers, VIVA has developed a planning-oriented image management. In this image management an image is not only connected with a product but also with a planning. This optional feature allows that a picture may appear universally or only in a specific planning/publication.
In this way a customer in the food industry can ensure that certain image variations only appear in selected publications. In this case the customer has altered the color sections of all pictures that appear in a specific publication on a double page spread. This »color composition« was only useful in this product combination on one catalog page. Additionally, the colors of the food product images were altered to suit the catalogs in different countries. This adjustment takes into account the fact that in every country there exist aesthetic views of food products. Thus the meat products displayed in each country were given different Cyan or Magenta values for the same product.
