With the introduction of graphic user interfaces began the triumphal march of »Desktop Publishing« (DTP) – the free individual creation of documents on the PC. In due course people realized that the construction of many of these documents was based on a repetitive template. Therefore various software manufacturers developed additional products to the layout programs. The integration of the layout program with a database gave birth to »Database Publishing«, a technology for producing documents automatically. With ever-growing demands from users, it was also gradually realized that »Database Publishing« for various reasons has a limited application spectrum.

For this reason VIVA has developed »Intelligent Publishing«, which goes way beyond the layout possibilities and media production of classic »Database Publishing«.
