Since 1889, Meister Druck in Kassel has been typesetting, printing and binding, taking on all the technical changes that have taken place over the last 100 years.
Meister Druck has been using VIVA's digital imposition program VivaImpose since early 2001 in their production of auction house catalogs and other printed material.
The company invested in the Fuji CelebraNT RIP to switch its production to Computer-to-Plate. On the recommendation of Fujifilm, Meister contacted VIVA.
The employees responsible for imposition had no previous experience of working digitally. "What we were looking for," says Jürgen Schmitz, Director of Meister, "was an imposition program that could be implemented immediately in conjunction with the Fuji workflow, and which would be easy to learn and simple to operate. With VIVA's help we were able to do just this - our operators were able to learn how to use the program quickly and within a very short time were working completely on their own without further guidance. We also had some special technical requests that were relevant to our production. Although at the time the program supplied did not contain the functions we needed, VIVA proved its flexibility by doing the additional programming very quickly so that our production came up to strength just a couple of weeks after the original installation."
In 2004 a new aspect was integrated: the necessity of outputting individual bar codes on each press sheet, whould would be read by the bar code reader supplied and installed by WST Systems. "VIVA again demonstrated their flexibility here," says Mr. Schmitz. "From the first discussion to the implementation of the new functionality took just 14 days, and the VIVA team were an enormous help to us in altering our imposition templates accordingly."
At the same time, Meister is extending its activies to include network-supported document production with the ECM system "VivaGate".
